The Anglesey Trail Marathon is back for 2013. It is a lovely event if you are staying in Snowdonia hotels and fancy some entertainment. It is a thrilling event if you are staying in Snowdonia hotels and love running! It will be a great, challenging race but with magical scenery.
The beautiful Isle of Anglesey will host 2 brilliant island trail races this September 29th. The 10k and half marathon Island Trail Races are set in the absolutely stunning surroundings of Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn. Because of it being an area of outstanding natural beauty, this offers not only a glorious challenge, but also an adventure through some of the most breath-taking scenery possible.
The entire course is off-road and follows a single track and paths through Newborough forest and also includes a run along a beach and around Llanddywn Island, you then come through the dunes and through more forest paths and open glades, and it is here where you shall try and overcome a series of ascents and descents. There is a selection of race distances that you can choose from with varying entry fees, these are; 10k Trail - £15.00, Half Trail Marathon - £21.00, and finally the full trail marathon - £25.00. The entry fee includes electronic chip timing, entertainment for the family, a cool Anglesey Trail marathon T-shirt, a finisher’s medal and some well-deserved refreshments at the finish line, not to mention the opportunity to run this incredible course.
There will also be a children’s and junior’s races on the day, with registration open at the venue, this is held in association with the Anglesey Council’s Sports development team. There’s also plenty more for the family to do and see all day. The combination of different terrains ranging from woodland, beaches and glades, with the backdrop of breath-taking scenery that we know here in wales, this race is set to be one to remember. North East Wales is littered with simmering lakes, mountains and mysterious forests. Snowdonia hotels are situated within this gorgeous wonderland and there are so many exciting events like the Trail race if you are staying in the area.
