The Bangor New Music Festival is an annual celebration of new and contemporary music that usually takes place over a few days during March. This year’s event will take place from 9th March to 14th March 2013 and will showcase a range of dedicated volunteers in close co-operation with Bangor University’s School of Music. Artists to appear at the 2013 Festival include Catrin Finch, Dewi Ellis Jones and ElectroacousticWALES.
Founded in the year 2000, the event aims to celebrate and appreciate contemporary music, showcasing works from composers of varied nationalities, as well as allowing school students, locals and visitors to the area to go along and enjoy the talent on show.
Every year, the festival endeavours to present the latest trends and developments in contemporary composition, with a particular emphasis on chamber music, mixed media events, electro acoustic music and experimental music, where new and recent works from artists of international standing are performed where possible in the presence of the composer.
Bangor New Music Festival will be taking place across the town in a variety of venues. Three of the main venues for performances to take place will be Powis Hall, Penrallt Church and Penrhyn Hall. Each venue will play a part in ensuring that the Bangor New music Festival goes down well with not only performers, but for everyone involved and everyone that has made the effort to come over and see raw musical talent at work!
