After Graduating in Fine Art Sculpture in 2007 from Loughborough University I moved back to North Wales where I was brought up. I now live in a three-story town house in Y Felinheli, overlooking the Menai straights. I share the house with 4 other creative people and work in a studio on the ground floor of the house. Being in a creative environment like this is very inspiring as there is an exciting buzz when surrounded by different artists, ideas and works of art.
The human form has been the centre of my focus in art for about 10 years now. The physical structure of the body and the emotions that it can express are endless. It is this sense of emotion that I find an exciting challenge to capturte in my sculptures. I am greatly influenced and inspired by the works of Michelangelo and August Rodin for the simple fact that they not only managed to sculpt the beauty of human form to perfection but also managed to inject intense emotion into static three dimensional forms resulting in timeless pieces of sculpture that have been and will continue to be enjoyed throughout generations.
I am currently producing a number of busts/heads that are going to be cast in wax and am designing work for future projects later in the year. I will be travelling to Austin, Texas in July to be an apprentice to the artist Edward Povey. After my return in September I will be producing larger pieces of figurative sculpture in plaster and resin and will be holding a number of photo shoots for portrait photography that I wish to exhibit in early 2010.
